Expert Bio
Dr. Kateryna Smagliy is a Counselor for Political Affairs and Public Diplomacy at the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA. She joined the Political Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2021. She is a former Director of the Kennan Institute Kyiv Office, a Kyiv-based consultant of the European Endowment for Democracy in Brussels and director of the Anti-Crisis Humanitarian Program of the International Renaissance Foundation. She also worked for the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv as the principal liaison officer with Ukraine’s parliament.
Parallel to her diplomatic career, Dr. Smagliy served as associate professor at Donetsk National University named after Stus and the National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy." She is a Fullbright scholar and a graduate of McCain Institute’s Next Generation Leaders program.
