Mattia Nelles is a Ukraine and Russia expert at the Center for Liberal Modernity, a Berlin-based think tank. Among other things, he edits the German “Ukraine verstehen” (understanding Ukraine) website, a specialized blog dedicated to explaining developments in Ukraine.
