Michael R. Gordon is the national security correspondent for the Wall Street Journal. Gordon covers the Pentagon, the National Security Council, and the State Department. He has traveled with four secretaries of state, written extensively about U.S-Russian arms control issues, covered the negotiations that led to the 2015 nuclear accord with Iran, and was at President Trump’s summit meetings with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Gordon has also covered numerous military conflicts from the field, including the battle to retake Mosul from the Islamic State, the Iraq War, the war in Afghanistan, the Kosovo conflict, the Russian intervention in Chechnya, the 1991 Persian Gulf War and the American invasion of Panama. Before joining the Wall Street Journal, Gordon was a correspondent for The New York Times for 32 years.
