Expert Bio
Michael Kraemer is a PhD candidate at The Ohio State University. He studies how Russian colonialism developed in southeast Alaska in Lingít Aaní (or the land of the Tlingit). His research focuses particularly on economic structures in Novo-Arkhangel'sk and the relationship between the Sheet'ká Ḵwáan and the Russian-American Company. He is a Mershon Center Student Fellow and will also be a fellow in the American Council's Combined Research and Language Training program in Moscow and St. Petersburg in Spring 2022.
