Wilson Center Project
Russian-Turkish Relations Beyond the Myth of Historical Enmity
Project Summary
Russian-Turkish relations have become increasingly central to a range of key issues facing Washington, from the immediate future of Syria to the long-term future of NATO. I am proposing a monograph-length report on the history and potential future of the Russian-Turkish relationship. This project would begin with a brief but original analysis of the dynamics that shaped Russian-Turkish relations over the past two centuries, followed by a more detailed look at their evolution over the past five years. The third section would then look forward to how Russian-Turkish relations might evolve and what Washington can do to influence this evolution.
