Oleksandr Kharchenko is an energy industry expert with nearly 20 years of experience. He played a critical role in the synchronization of the Ukrainian electricity transmission system (NEC Ukrenerho) with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E). Additionally, Kharchenko contributed to advocating for sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, a successful effort that helped secure a $7 billion contract for Ukraine. He led the development of the Energy Damage Assessment Report for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank, assessing the impact of the war on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Kharchenko contributes regularly to the Atlantic Council, where he shares insights on energy security, policy, and the broader geopolitical landscape.
