    Managing Migrations: Lessons for Ukraine from the International Experience

    Full Biography

    Early in her career, Olena Malynovska worked at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where she was engaged in research in the field of migration. When the country became independent, it was necessary to create state institutions, in particular in the field of migration management. In 1993-2001 Malynovska worked in the Ministry (later the State Committee) on Nationalities and Migration as a deputy and then a chief of the department on Migration and Refugees. There she was directly involved into the process of creation of migration service and migration legislation in Ukraine and gained invaluable experience of practical work. Since 2001 she has returned to scientific work and focused on the research in the area of ​​migration and migration policy of Ukraine. Since 2010 until present, Malynovska works as a chief researcher in the National Institute for strategic studies. She is also involved in the fulfilment of the research projects and development of recommendations to the politicians on the migration and migration policy issues
