Expert Bio
Olivia Grotenhuis is a staff assistant intern at the Hyundai Motor-Korea Foundation Center for Korean History and Public Policy. Olivia joined the Wilson Center as an intern in July 2020 after graduating with highest distinction from the University of Virginia with her B.A. in Foreign Affairs and East Asian Studies, with a concentration in Korean language. Prior to joining the Korea Center, Olivia translated North Korean defector testimonies being sent to the UN Special Rapporteurs on torture, violence against women, and North Korean human rights for a defector-run NGO in South Korea. Olivia was a 2018 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholar and speaks Korean at the advanced-low level.
