Yulia is a Research Assistant in the project Nonviolent Repression in Electoral Autocracies at the University College London. She holds her degree in Sociology from European University at Saint Petersburg. Her research experience includes the work for the Center for Advanced Governance, Moscow, Russia (closed due to the war with Ukraine) - one of few think tanks in Russia promoting evidence-based policy making. Yulia's current research focuses on environmental policy in non-democratic regimes. She explores how climate change and environmental challenges more broadly shape interactions between the authorities and activists in contemporary electoral autocracies.
