Brandon Schechter is currently a visiting scholar at the Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia at New York University and a Teaching Resource Developer in the NEH-funded "Teaching Things: Material Culture in the History Classroom" at the American Historical Association. His first book, The Stuff of Soldiers: A History of the Red Army in World War II Through Objects (Cornell, 2019), won the American Historical Association’s Paul Birdsall Prize for best book in European military or strategic history in 2020. He has taught at UC Berkeley, NYU, Brown, Columbia, and NYU Shanghai.
