Expert Bio
Shelley Zhou was a fall 2020 research assistant for the Wilson Center's History and Public Policy Program. She received her MA and BA degrees in History from the University of Kentucky (UK). Her research interests include the history of propaganda, education, memory, the Cultural Revolution, and the Cold War. During her time as an MA student at UK, she explored the medium of lianhuahua, or illustrated story books, and wrote a thesis titled “Training Millions of Successors: The Education of Chinese Children through Lianhuanhua from the Cultural Revolution.”
