Full Biography
Walt Meier is a senior research scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), a center within the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. He is the lead scientist for the NASA Snow and Ice Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) hosted at the NSIDC. His research focuses on remote sensing of sea ice and Arctic climate. His previous positions include: research scientist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland; adjunct assistant professor at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; and visiting scientist at the U.S. National Ice Center in Suitland, Maryland.
