Youngjun Kim is a Professor of National Security College at the Korea National Defense University, the author of "Origins of the North Korean Garrison State: People's Army and the Korean War," and a Member of the National Security Advisory Board for the Republic of Korean President's Office (Blue House).

Full Biography

Youngjun Kim is a Professor of National Security College at the Korea National Defense University. He published his book, Origins of the North Korean Garrison State: People's Army and the Korean War, with Routledge in 2017. He is a member of National Security Advisory Board of the Republic of Korean President's Office as well as of Advisory Board for the Department of Unification.

He is a managing editor of the Korean Journal on Nuclear Nonproliferation and Energy, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ROK. He frequently appears in the Wall Street Journal, BBC News TV, Fox News TV, Kyoto Tongshin, Younhap News, Kyonghyang Newspaper, Arirang TV, Defense TV, and other news outlets. He is an executive director of the Korea Nuclear Policy Society and  has led a Nuclear Leadership Policy Initiative between the ROK and the U.S. (Network between the ROK and the US nuclear policy experts) sponsored by both governments.
