Expert Bio
Dr. Erica Moret is a widely published expert on sanctions, humanitarian affairs, global peace and security and innovation, with a PhD from the University of Oxford. A former diplomat, she is Senior Researcher at the Global Governance Centre at the Geneva Graduate Institute, where she co-founded and ran the Geneva International Sanctions Network (GISN) and the Sanctions and Sustainable Peace Hub. She is also co-founder and former Policy Director of the Swiss Centre for International Policy Engagement, PoliSync, through which she has served as a consultant the UN, EU, World Bank and humanitarian organizations. She has provided policy advice on sanctions and bank derisking to the Biden Administration and UK FCDO and testimonies to the US Congress, European Parliament, both UK Houses of Parliament and Canadian Senate. She provided input into the UK Sanctions Strategy and coordinated the EU/ Swiss-funded Dialogue Series on Bank Derisking and Compliance Dialogue on Syria-Related Humanitarian Payments; Forum for Innovation in Humanitarian Payments and co-founded the Advancing Humanitarianism through Sanctions Refinement engagement - a global trisector initiative seeking to heighten sanctions effectiveness and minimise humanitarian impacts.
